Digital Fluency Intensive - Day 2 - Workflow.

Digital Fluency Intensive - Day 2 - Workflow.

1. What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

Understanding that effective teaching practice is underpinned by recognising what it is, then amplifying and turbocharging pedagogy through the use of digital technology, acknowledging it is not just a tool.

2. What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
How to make google meet and gmail more effective and efficient in both my own workspace and that of my learners. I have already downloaded the recommended extensions to help structure and streamline my gmail and chrome applications.

3. What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
As above, for as my confidence grows in using these programmes so does my confidence build to pass that knowledge onto my students to achieve similar successful outcomes.

4. What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
That continued practice in working with these programmes will increase the probability that I will use them in the future.

Digital Fluency Intensive Day 1 Reflection - Core Business

Craig's Professional Blog

DFI Day1 - Frustrations and Freedoms

  1. What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

I have gained a greater appreciation of the kaupapa and content of the programme's approach. Even though I had spoken to colleagues from the first cohort this year I was still not sure what to expect. The first day has clarified that and given me a proper understanding of the meaning of digital fluency.

  2. What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?

Sitting down and taking the time to learn about the capabilities of the digital tools available now can enhance productivity and self efficacy in their use. The more you use them the more confident you become and, therefore, the more likely you are to use them in the future with yourself and your students.

  3. What did I learn that could be used with my learners?

The various tools such as google docs and slides aside, what I have gained from day one is the importance and relevance for students to develop digital fluency. With it they can develop a digital literacy that would serve them well in school and in life. However, what today has also highlighted is that content delivered by this means is contingent on access and assumptions that this is equitable are not valid outside of the normal school environment.

  4. What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?

To use the tools I am currently familiar with more fully, effectively and efficiently.

Classroom Implementation.

1. I have included voice typing into my reading programme to encourage out loud reading and develop fluency. This has resulted in one of my students, who is on the spectrum, being happy and safe enough to read outloud to the class for the first time this year.

2. Have had whole class discussions on the capabilities of chromebooks and programmes within.

3. Used a version of my create task to showcase student involvement in the Police Competency Test.
