Digital Fluency Intensive - Day 3 - Media.

Digital Fluency Intensive - Day 3 - Media.

1. What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

That creativity is the "dead centre" of the learning process and digital technologies can be used to enhance and augment this process and its outcomes.

2. What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?

Again, an expanding understanding of the capabilities of the various digital tools available to us and how they, in turn, can be applied to the existing educational and personal settings of both myself and my learners.

3. What did I learn that could be used with my learners?

To use all aspects covered today, Youtube for my own organisation and Google Draw/Slides with my students. Of particular interest is the use of Google Slides to make a digital pepeha.

4. What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?

That " techno feckery" is a thing and my capacity and patience to constantly deal with this is increasing.

Techno Feckery - a phenomena that creates annoyance, frustration, impatience or surprise when things of a technological nature, that have absolutely no correlation with your technical abilities, constantly go wrong in the background so that they undermine, distort, and delay task completion.

Today's create task.

Start of slides task.

  1. Kia ora Craig,
Looks like the students had a ball at the leadership camp! Google slides is a great way to share learning. The awesome thing about them is that eventually you will be able to set up a deck and the kids will be able to add their own images and/or captions. Did you stay at the Scout Hall?

    1. Hi Meryn,
Thank you, yes it has been a great way to do share their learning. The students had an excellent time, the camp was at our property in Waiwhakaiho.

    2. Wonderful! I hope your kids recognise how special it is to still be getting to go on a camp. So sad to me that many don't get to do that anymore due to various reasons. So much learning to be had; and often from the kids you don't see it from in a normal classroom environment.

  2. Kia ora Craig, what a great post to read. Lovely to see your tamariki in your post too. Google slides has so many uses. I did a session on using slides for animation which you might like to try sometime. Your create task looks great too. See you tomorrow. Amy
