Digital Fluency Intensive - Day 8 - Computational Thinking
1. What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
Where the idea of empowered, as another word for agency, lies within the Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy and that it was derived from the negative associations that whanau had with the notion of agency and agencies, especially among the working poor.
Defining digital fluency helped me understand that our role as educators is to set the foundation for students to navigate a digital environment in a competent way. We also need to ensure that what we are doing in a digital space is having a positive impact on student achievement.
Hopefully our efforts will help them make decisions on what technology to use to solve problems as well as connect to people from throughout the country and the world.
Kia ora Craig,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your reflection. You have very clearly captured an important aspect of this journey we are on: To support students to develop their digital fluency so that they are empowered to choose and effectively use technology to solve problems and be connected. Have you thought about inserting a screenshot of your binary name badge so that it is visible on your blog without having to follow the link?
